Prayer is something that we often engage in whenever we are overwhelmed or when we just want to make a spiritual connection with out Creator. With that said, the act of prayer can be a healing element in your life because it produces wonderful results. In the case of Evangelist George Mueller, while on a ship that was heading into a deep fog over the ocean, he turned to prayer after asking the captain if he was going to make it to his destination by Saturday. To which the captain answered, “Impossible.” Now, for most people, that is the time to give up hope but instead, Mueller bowed his head in prayer. The captain noticed this and when Mueller was done, he asked if he too could pray. Muller replied, “No.” He also said, “First, you do not believe He will answer: and second, I believe He has. And there is no need whatever for you to pray about it. . . Get up captain, and open the door, and you will find the fog gone.” When the captain got up and looked out, the dense fog was gone!
Prayer has more impact than you think.

This is the power of prayer! In fact, many people believe that prayer not only changes us and the circumstances we’re in but it actually transforms us in addition to having real-world effects. This is what is known as God’s will. However, we also know that not all prayers lead to such obvious results but as James wrote, “The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16)

The Scriptures also tells us this to be true as well. For example, after the Israelites worshipped the golden calf at the same time that Moses was speaking to God on the mountain, He threatened to destroy the nation of Israel (Exodus 32:5) until Moses pleased with God to not do this and so he didn’t (James 5:14). Another bible story tells us that when an angel appeared to the prophet Daniel in a vision and said, “Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer.” (Daniel 10:12).
We must never stop praying. It should be a lifestyle that we cultivate.

Therefore, we can see that an earnest prayer can have a heavy influence on the will of God. Perhaps he is hoping that you will some him some of this great aspect of your human nature so that he can continue watching out and taking care of those who believe in his power. It does change lives! However, we also have to accept the fact that He will decide what is best. Until then, bring to him all of your requests and hardships because he is listening. (James 5:13 – 16).
